One Statement

My work is the result of a practice rooted in more than one culture.  I allow different languages to have a voice by creating series of images. I need the physical struggle with materials, the transformation that occurs beyond the initial plan. I use post consumer paper for my big formats because it is abundant and I feel free to take risks. I love the different tasks of cutting, painting and drawing. They make comments on each other.

Wood and paper are my preferred mediums. Wood is directly attached to earth. Paper is related to human history, economy and information. My collages are acts of interruption in the journey of paper from one purpose to the next. They are fragile and impermanent and  their deterioration is part of the act.

From Colombia to France to Venezuela and the US, my work is a journal of unanswered questions.

Watch the video below, where I tell the story of my inspiration rooted in poetry, nature, and the art of women in Kuna Yala, Panama.
